The Victorian Breast Cancer Research Consortium Inc. is a consortium formed between
eight Melbourne medical research institutes and The Cancer Council Victoria. The
Consortium is an incorporated association (registration number A0034588M), governed
by a Board of Management.
It was established in 1997 by the Victorian State Government to conduct world-class
fundamental breast cancer research. Since July 2008, the VBCRC has been funded though
the Victorian Cancer Agency.

The Consortium operates as an 'institute without walls' with its research groups located
in host research institutes where they can benefit from infrastructure support and intellectual collaboration.

Breast Cancer Conference 2011
The VBCRC has established a tradition of national breast cancer conferences held every few years.
Unfortunately, the next Australian Breast Cancer Conference planned for 13 & 14 October 2011 has had to be postponed. New plans will be posted on this website as soon as possible but preliminary interest can still be registered by email to vbcrc@cancervic.org.au
